Shopping Carts
Photography
2022 – ongoing
Whenever I walk through the streets of Berlin, I see abandoned shopping carts. They spark a feeling of loneliness and carelessness in me, as well as the idea that they were once useful but have lost their value now that they have completed their purpose. One afternoon, I started to wonder: is there a connection between how people deal with these shopping carts and how they treat each other in society? Do these carelessly abandoned shopping carts actually reveal something about our attitude towards each other? To me, these shopping carts are not just shopping carts. Instead, they embody individual and societal mindlessness. They represent those in our society who have been abandoned by the state and individuals. The unseen, the forgotten, the ignored, the unwanted.
